What To Expect

On Your First Visit

Patient Forms

Before your first appointment you will be asked to fill out a new patient form to give us as much information as possible before we begin the consultation process.

Consultation

During the consultation your chiropractor will take an in depth history of the events surrounding your presenting complaint. Lifestyle factors will also be taken into account, as well as your past health history.

Examination

Following the consultation your chiropractor will perform a thorough physical examination, including a postural assessment, orthopaedic, neurological tests.

Report of Findings

Before treatment starts your chiropractor will explain your examination findings, what seems to be a problem with you and also tell you if chiropractic treatment is appropriate for your condition, or whether you need to be referred to your GP.

You may also be given advice regarding exercise and lifestyle changes that may be beneficial to your condition.

Treatment

Chiropractic treatment mainly involves safe, often gentle, specific adjustments, done by hand, to free joints in the spine or other areas of the body that are not moving properly.  Most often this requires a short thrust to a joint that can result in an audible ‘crack’ and may bring relief to symptoms as well as an increased feeling of well-being. The ‘crack’ is simply the sound of bubbles of gas popping in the fluid of the joint as the pressure is released.
